During the summer of each year, we host an annual charity event to benefit the community. Last years, Laps for Lunches charity event generated thousands of dollars that was contributed to aid in the battle against hunger for the youth. While we enjoyed hosting this event and donating these funds for this cause, we have decided to go in a different direction this year.
This year, we are introducing Laps for Learning Eldon Ward Swim-a-thon. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the education of the youth in water safety. Together, with the Eldon and Elsie Ward YMCA, we are aiming to raise money to enable children to take an incredible water safety course offered through the YMCA specially for this event to teach children proper conduct and safety techniques around bodies of water.
This event is going to be a volunteer driven event with people of all ages collecting donations and pledging laps to swim upon donations. With the help of our volunteers and that of corporate sponsors, we can raise money to get a multitude of children into this program that the YMCA is specially offering for this event.
While this is still in it’s preliminary stages, we want to take the time to announce the dates of this event being August 1st-12th. Every year children drown due to improper conduct around bodies of water. We recognize this problem and want to change this so families will have a sense of comfort knowing that their children know the fundamentals to water safety.
