E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co. president Brian Brooks awarded the E.E. Ward 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Richard M. Crockett, president of Capital Transportation, at the Fourth Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Institute Graduation Ceremony on September 24.
The E.E. Ward Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognizes a minority business owner, located in Central Ohio, who best displays a vision and purpose for making the community stronger. The recipient is not only committed to success, but also takes risks to create opportunities for the community, making a significant impact on the community as a whole. The award was established in 2014 to celebrate the entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirits of E.E. Ward founders John T. Ward and William S. Ward who started the company in 1881.
Crockett is the President and CEO of Capital Transportation, a full-service ground passenger transportation company in Columbus, Ohio. Upon receiving the award Crockett stated, “It is truly an honor to have been selected and I will certainly cherish this honor for a lifetime”. Crockett opened Capital Transportation in 1997. He also founded the Metropolitan Youth Foundation of Central Ohio, focused on helping under-served youth, and Capital Transportation Academy, focused on helping unemployed and underemployed gain marketable skills.
It was an honor to present Richard M. Crockett with this award. He is a visionary in the community and we are excited to see what the future holds for him. Congratulations once again!
